Find the Coolest Cake Pans

Cake pans are often found in a multitude of patterns such as curved, rectangle, and custom shapes such as wild animals or houses. Baking sheets, often recognized as cookie sheets, are flat sheets of aluminum or flat pans made for cooking desserts such as brownies and biscuits. Cake pans are almost always made with one of a couple different materials. Classic cake baking pans are produced from metal, enamaled metal, or glass. Cake pans are much easier to bake with.

Metal pans should mark a non-stick surface, while terracotta pans are often covered with oil, butter, or non-stick spray before using them. There are many styles of cake pans including bundt, spring form and specialty pattern cake pans. Metal bundt pans may also have crimped edges. They generally have removable bases as well. Both dishes and pans are commonly ten to 12 inches in diameter and 1-1/2 in. deep.

Silicone cake pans are more expensive than the standard glass models, non the less they are much more durable and stand up to higher temperatures without yielding. Silicone bakeware is non-stick and resilient, very comfortable to bake with. When looking for cake pans always consider one that frees the cake easily from the pan. Silicone pans are typically non-stick (but we still recommend greasing them), and their pliability allows you to gently pop desserts out of the pan without destroying them. This type of flexible pan ought to be set on a cooking sheet before being set into the oven.
